Ingredients

The Cake

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup oil (vegetable or other neutral-flavored oil)
  • cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Cinnamon Spice Layer

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon ground allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger

The Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C) and grease a 13x9-inch pan.
  2. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl and set aside.
  3. Cream the butter, oil, and sugar in a mixing bowl until fluffy, then add sour cream and mix.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into the batter, then add vanilla extract and mix well.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the pan, sprinkle ¾ of the sugar mix over it, and spread the remaining batter on top.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining sugar mixture on top and swirl if desired.
  8. Bake for about 40 minutes or until a tester comes out clean.
  9. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the glaze, adjusting consistency as needed.
  10. Pour glaze over the warm cake or after it cools, then slice and serve.
