Ingredients

The cake

  • 4 ounce unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

The streusel topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 10-inch tube pan.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Mix in the milk, sour cream, and vanilla extract until combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture to the batter, mixing until just combined.
  7. For the streusel, mix the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and butter until crumbly.
  8. Spoon half of the cake batter into the pan, then sprinkle with three-quarters of the streusel.
  9. Add the remaining batter and top with the remaining streusel.
  10. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes until a cake tester comes out clean.
  11. Let the cake cool on a wire rack for about 30 minutes before transferring to a serving plate.
  12. Drizzle with your favorite glaze if desired.
