Ingredients

Gingerbread Syrup

  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
  • 3 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup water
  • a pinch kosher salt

Gingerbread Latte

  • 3 tablespoons gingerbread syrup
  • 4 shots espresso
  • cup frothed milk
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • to taste freshly grated nutmeg
  • as needed gingerbread cookies or marshmallows, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugars, molasses, vanilla, ginger, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat to make the syrup.
  2. Cook until everything is dissolved and the mixture thickens.
  3. Prepare four shots of espresso.
  4. Froth your choice of milk.
  5. In a cup, add the gingerbread syrup, followed by the espresso shots.
  6. Top with frothed milk, whipped cream, freshly grated nutmeg, and garnish with gingerbread cookies or marshmallows.
