Instructions
- Cut the vanilla beans to fit your jar and slice them lengthwise halfway to expose the seeds.
- Place the beans in the jar and cover them completely with vodka.
- Seal the jar and shake gently, then store it in a cool, dark place.
- Shake the jar gently once a day for about a week.
- After a week, shake less frequently, about once or twice a week for a month.
- Let the vanilla extract sit for 6 to 8 weeks before using, but it’s best to wait at least 3 months.
- When the jar is about 25% empty, top it off with more vodka and let it sit for a couple of weeks.
