Tender Turkey Swedish Meatballs

Ingredients

The meatballs

  • lb ground turkey
  • cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan
  • ½ cup white onion, chopped and divided
  • 1 large organic egg
  • 2 tbsp dried basil, divided
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • tsp black pepper, divided
  • ½ tsp ground thyme
  • ¾ tsp sea salt, divided

The gravy

  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • cup beef broth
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water
  • ¼ cup whipping cream
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Combine all meatball ingredients in a large bowl and mix thoroughly.
  2. Form the mixture into palm-sized meatballs and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet and sear the meatballs for 2 minutes on each side, then remove from heat.
  4. In the same skillet, cook minced garlic and onion for 4 minutes.
  5. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, basil, and remaining seasonings to the skillet and stir.
  6. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and cook for 10 to 12 minutes until cooked through.
  7. Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl, then add to the skillet.
  8. Stir in whipping cream and grated parmesan cheese, cover, and simmer for an additional 3 to 5 minutes.
