The Topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C).
- Wash the sweet potatoes, poke them with a fork, and wrap them in aluminum foil.
- Bake the sweet potatoes for about 50-60 minutes until fork-tender.
- Let the sweet potatoes cool, then peel and mash them in a large bowl.
- Mix in milk, heavy cream, eggs, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into a baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is slightly brown.
- Remove from the oven, add marshmallows on top, and broil for about 5 minutes until the marshmallows are golden brown.
- Let the casserole set for 10-15 minutes before serving.
