Instant Pot Cabbage Side Dish

Ingredients

The vegetables

  • 2 lbs Green Cabbage
  • 1 lg Yellow Onion
  • 2 med Carrots

The cooking ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp Butter
  • cup Water or broth
  • ½ tsp Kosher Salt
  • ¼ tsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • ¼ tsp Red Pepper Flakes

Instructions

  1. Cut the cabbage into 2" - 3" pieces, slice the onion into ½" wide slices, and cut the carrots into ¼" rounds.
  2. Add the butter and water or broth to the Instant Pot.
  3. Add the cabbage, onion, and carrots to the pot.
  4. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes over the vegetables and stir to mix.
  5. Place the lid on the pot and set the steam release knob to the Sealing position.
  6. Press the Pressure Cook/Manual button and select 3 minutes on high pressure.
  7. Once the cook time is finished, perform a Quick Release by turning the steam release knob to the Venting position.
  8. When the pressure is released and the pin drops, open the lid and stir the cabbage.
  9. Serve hot with additional black pepper if desired.
