Instructions
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat until it turns dark brown, then pour it into a bowl and whisk in water.
- Allow the brown butter to cool for about 10 minutes, then whisk in the sugars.
- Add the eggs and vanilla, whisking until smooth.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Fold in the chopped chocolate and walnuts without over-mixing.
- Chill the dough for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and scoop out 2-ounce balls of dough onto a baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 8 minutes, then optionally shape them with a cookie cutter.
- Continue baking for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until the edges are lightly golden brown.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
