Ingredients

The dough

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • cups brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 2 units eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 12 oz chocolate chips
  • 1 4oz chocolate bar, chopped

Topping

  • to taste flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter in a sauté pan over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until it turns amber brown.
  2. Pour the brown butter into a dish and let it cool for one hour.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the cooled brown butter with brown and white sugar until creamy.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until well mixed.
  7. Chop the chocolate bar into small chunks and mix into the dough along with the chocolate chips.
  8. Chill the dough for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  9. When ready to bake, roll the dough into 2 tbsp-sized balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  10. Bake at 350°F for 12-14 minutes until lightly golden brown around the edges.
  11. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and let cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
