Ingredients

The dough

  • ¾ cup Browned Butter
  • 2 sticks Salted Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup White Sugar
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • cups All Purpose Flour
  • tsp Baking Powder
  • tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips
  • ½ cup Dark Chocolate Chips

For topping

  • to taste Maldon Sea Salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the browned butter by melting it in a light-colored saucepan over medium heat until it foams and turns a light brown color.
  2. Once browned, transfer the butter to a heat-safe dish and refrigerate for 1 hour until it reaches a softened consistency.
  3. In a mixing bowl, cream together the browned butter, softened butter, brown sugar, white sugar, and vanilla until fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Incorporate the baking powder and baking soda, then gradually add the flour, mixing until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop the dough onto a lined baking sheet and sprinkle with sea salt.
  8. Refrigerate the dough for 3 hours or up to 24 hours.
  9. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  10. Bake the cookies for 15-17 minutes, ensuring they are slightly soft in the center.
  11. After baking, drop the tray onto the counter to flatten the cookies slightly and allow them to cool on the tray for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
