Ingredients

The casserole

  • 6 cups shredded chicken
  • 2 cups ham, cubed

The cheese sauce

  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded

The topping

  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then add flour and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Whisk in milk and Dijon mustard, simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and mix in Swiss and Monterey Jack cheese until melted.
  5. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and mix with Panko breadcrumbs.
  6. Layer shredded chicken in the casserole dish, followed by cubed ham.
  7. Pour cheese sauce over the chicken and ham, then sprinkle Panko breadcrumbs on top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
