Ingredients

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Romano cheese

The topping

  • 1 ¼ cups Panko bread crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Italian parsley

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan and mix in flour to create a roux, cooking for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Whisk in milk until smooth and bring to medium heat to thicken.
  3. Add Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper, simmering for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Stir in Swiss and Romano cheese until blended, then add chicken stock.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F and coat a 9x13 inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
  6. Layer shredded chicken in the dish, followed by cubed ham and parsley.
  7. Pour the cheese sauce over the layered meats without stirring.
  8. Mix Panko bread crumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until bread crumbs are browned, then let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
