Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine ½ cup sugar, cocoa powder, and corn syrup with hot water and simmer. Add vanilla and set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a bundt pan.
- Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
- Cream butter and remaining sugar until fluffy, then add eggs one at a time and mix in remaining vanilla.
- Alternate adding flour mixture and milk to the batter until smooth.
- Fold in chocolate chips if using, then divide the batter into thirds.
- Layer the batter in the bundt pan, creating a marble effect by swirling.
- Bake for about an hour until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool before inverting onto a platter and dusting with powdered sugar.
