Ingredients

  • cups sugar, divided
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • teaspoons vanilla extract, divided
  • 2 2/3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 4 units eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • to taste units powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine ½ cup sugar, cocoa powder, and corn syrup with hot water and simmer. Add vanilla and set aside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a bundt pan.
  3. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
  4. Cream butter and remaining sugar until fluffy, then add eggs one at a time and mix in remaining vanilla.
  5. Alternate adding flour mixture and milk to the batter until smooth.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips if using, then divide the batter into thirds.
  7. Layer the batter in the bundt pan, creating a marble effect by swirling.
  8. Bake for about an hour until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool before inverting onto a platter and dusting with powdered sugar.
