Ingredients

The base

  • 1 ¼ cups brown sugar or white sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

The liquids

  • 6 cups soy milk or other vegan milk
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla paste

Optional toppings

  • to taste coconut cream
  • to taste cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar, sifted cocoa powder, and salt in the slow cooker.
  2. Add the soy milk and coconut milk, then add the vanilla extract.
  3. Whisk the mixture vigorously for at least 3 minutes until fully combined.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 2 hours, stirring halfway through if desired.
  5. Stir again before serving, ensuring any cocoa at the edges is mixed back in.
