Ingredients

The apples

  • 3 pounds apples

The sweetener and spices

  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 small lemon

Instructions

  1. Core and dice the apples into 1 ½-inch chunks, leaving the peels on.
  2. Place the apples in a slow cooker.
  3. Add honey, cinnamon stick, pumpkin pie spice, and a strip of lemon peel to the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours or HIGH for 2 ½ to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove the cinnamon stick and lemon peel after cooking.
  6. Blend the applesauce to your desired texture using an immersion blender or other blending method.
  7. Taste and adjust sweetness with additional honey if needed, then let cool and enjoy.
