Ingredients

  • 1 cup olive oil
  • cups onions, diced
  • 2 large garlic cloves, minced
  • 900 g beef, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • cup red wine
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • tsp ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 2 leaves bay leaves
  • 1 tsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 10 cups water
  • 400 g spaghetti

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat, then add onions, garlic, and beef pieces, cooking until beef is browned.
  2. Add red wine and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in salt, pepper, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves, tomato paste, tomato sauce, and 7 cups of water, bringing to a boil before reducing to a simmer for 35 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  5. After 35 minutes, add spaghetti and 3 more cups of water, seasoning with salt and pepper, then remove from heat.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a large baking dish and bake for 30 minutes, stirring to combine before serving.
