Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare an 8-inch cake pan with parchment and oil.
- Whisk together the dry ingredients in a bowl, and mix the molasses with water.
- Cream the butter and sugars with the spices, then add the egg and mix well.
- Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients in alternating additions until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40-45 minutes until springy.
- Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Prepare the ganache by heating cream and salt, then pouring it over the chocolate.
- Let the ganache cool until pourable, then pour it over the cooled cake.
- Allow the ganache to set before serving.
