Orange Beef Stir Fry

Ingredients

The beef and sauce

  • pounds trimmed boneless sirloin ribeye or flank steak, cut into ½-inch-thick strips
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil

The garnish and serving

  • 2 oranges whole
  • 2 oranges peeled and cut into segments
  • 3 green onions sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • Steamed rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Grate the zest from 1 orange and squeeze the juice from 2 oranges into a small bowl.
  2. Add minced garlic and soy sauce to the bowl.
  3. Mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of cold water and add it to the bowl.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon of canola oil in a large nonstick skillet over high heat.
  5. Brown the beef in batches for 3 to 5 minutes, seasoning with salt and pepper, then transfer to a plate.
  6. Pour the juice mixture into the skillet and boil until syrupy, about 1 minute.
  7. Return the beef to the skillet, add orange segments and green onions, and toss until coated and heated through.
  8. Top with sesame seeds and serve with steamed rice.
