Classic Chocolate Toffee

Ingredients

The base

  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

The toppings

  • 2/3 cup ground pecans
  • 3/4 cup premium milk chocolate or dark chocolate
  • 1 pinch sea salt (optional)

For greasing

  • 1 amount butter

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×9-inch pan and sprinkle 1/3 cup of the ground pecans in it.
  2. In a saucepan, combine butter, sugar, water, and vanilla, and cook over medium heat until it reaches 285ºF – 290ºF.
  3. Pour the cooked mixture over the nuts in the pan.
  4. Let it sit for 2 minutes, then sprinkle chocolate chips on top and let it sit for another 2 minutes before spreading the chocolate evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining ground pecans on top and add a pinch of sea salt if desired.
  6. Chill the pan in the fridge for at least 2 hours before breaking the toffee into pieces.
