Chocolate Toffee with Pecans

The Topping

Instructions
- Line a quarter rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a heavy saucepan, combine butter, sugar, and maple syrup. Heat until it reaches 325 degrees.
- Quickly stir in salt and vanilla, whisk to combine, and transfer to the parchment paper. Let it rest for at least 15 minutes.
- Melt chocolate in a double boiler, then pour it over the toffee and spread it evenly.
- Top with pecans and refrigerate until hard. Break apart into pieces to serve.
