Homemade Toffee

Instructions
- Line a half sheet pan or 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper and sprinkle chopped nuts evenly over it.
- In a heavy-bottom 4-quart saucepan, combine butter, sugar, and salt over medium-low heat until melted.
- Increase heat to medium and bring the mixture to a steady boil, stirring occasionally.
- Cook until the toffee reaches 285-290 degrees F and is deep amber brown, about 20-25 minutes.
- Pour the hot toffee evenly over the nuts on the prepared baking sheet without scraping the sides of the pot.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of the hot toffee and let them melt for 2-3 minutes, then spread into an even layer.
- Let the toffee cool until set, then break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
