Ingredients

The pasta

  • 1 lb dry spaghetti

The sauce

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 8 oz Neufchatel cheese
  • cup chopped fresh basil
  • 2 24 oz jars roasted garlic marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

For garnish

  • to taste chopped fresh basil or parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. Boil water in a large pot for the spaghetti.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, then cook and crumble the beef until browned.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, Neufchatel cheese, and basil, seasoning with salt and pepper, and cook until the cheese melts.
  5. Cook the spaghetti in boiling water until tender but firm, about 2 minutes before the package's al dente time.
  6. Drain the spaghetti and mix it with the sauce in the pot.
  7. Transfer the mixture to the baking dish and cover with foil, baking for 10 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil, sprinkle with mozzarella, and bake until the cheese melts, about 10-15 minutes.
  9. Let it rest before slicing and serve with optional garnish.
