Instructions
- Combine 1 cup of flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add warm water and mix with a hand mixer on medium speed for three minutes.
- Gradually add the remaining 1 ¼ cups of flour until too thick for the mixer, then stir in the rest with a spoon.
- Coat a loaf pan with non-stick spray and dust with cornmeal.
- Shape the dough into a rough loaf and place it in the pan.
- Cover with a damp paper towel and let rise for one hour.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Bake the loaf for 30-45 minutes, until it sounds hollow when tapped.
- Remove from the pan and let it cool completely before slicing.
