Ingredients

The chicken

  • pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • oil for frying
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • green onions for garnish (optional)

The sauce

  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons gochujang sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the eggs in a bowl and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Mix the flour and cornstarch together in a shallow bowl.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pot to 350 degrees F.
  4. Dip each piece of chicken in egg, then coat with the flour mixture.
  5. Fry the chicken in batches for 5 minutes or until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
  6. While frying, whisk together the sauce ingredients until smooth.
  7. Simmer the sauce in a small pot until the sugar dissolves.
  8. Pour the sauce over the fried chicken and toss to coat, then sprinkle with sesame seeds and garnish with green onions if desired.
