Ingredients

The chicken

  • lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • for frying oil

The sauce

  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons sliced green onions

Instructions

  1. Combine eggs, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Mix flour and cornstarch in a shallow dish.
  3. Dip chicken pieces in the egg mixture, then in the flour mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F.
  5. Fry chicken pieces in batches for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Drain fried chicken on paper towels.
  7. In a bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and cornstarch.
  8. Heat a teaspoon of oil in a large pan and sauté garlic for 30 seconds.
  9. Add the sauce mixture to the pan and simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened.
  10. Toss the crispy chicken in the sauce, sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, and serve.
