Ingredients

  • pounds fresh green beans

  • ¼ cup flour

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • to taste none salt
  • to taste none pepper
  • 5-6 slices bacon
  • ½-¾ cup breadcrumbs
  • as needed none cooking oil spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then cool in ice water and drain.
  3. In a saucepan, bring chicken broth to a boil over medium-high heat.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix flour, milk, and spices until combined.
  5. Slowly add the flour mixture to the boiling broth in stages, stirring to prevent clumping.
  6. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook until the mixture thickens, about 6-10 minutes.
  7. Combine the thickened sauce with the green beans and crumbled bacon, then transfer to a baking dish.
  8. Top with breadcrumbs and spray with cooking oil.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool before serving.
