Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a 9x13 baking dish.
- Boil salted water in a large pot, add green beans, and cook for 5 minutes.
- Transfer the cooked beans to an ice bath to stop the cooking process, then drain.
- Mix flour, salt, and pepper in a small dish.
- Melt butter in a saucepan, add minced garlic, and cook for about a minute.
- Whisk the flour mixture into the butter and garlic until combined, then cook for another minute.
- Gradually add the broth to the mixture while whisking until smooth, then add half-and-half and simmer until thickened.
- Combine the green beans with the sauce and spread in the baking dish.
- Top with French fried onions and bake for 20 minutes, checking halfway through.
