Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and bring a large pot of water to a boil.
- Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 1-2 minutes, then drain and transfer to a casserole dish.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté the sliced shallot until tender.
- Whisk in flour and cook until golden brown, then gradually add wine, broth, soy sauce, and milk, whisking after each addition.
- Simmer the sauce until it thickens, then stir in grated garlic, salt, and gruyere cheese.
- Pour the sauce over the green beans, cover with foil, and bake for 25 minutes.
- Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes, then toss the green beans to coat in the sauce.
- Top with crispy fried onions and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
- Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.
