Ingredients

The cookies

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 Tbsp lemon zest
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

The glaze

  • cups powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp cream cheese, softened
  • 3 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the dry ingredients and set aside.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy, then add eggs one at a time.
  3. Mix in the sour cream, lemon zest, and vanilla, then add the flour mixture until combined.
  4. Chill the dough for about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F during the last 10 minutes of chilling.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto lined baking sheets, spacing them apart.
  7. Bake for 14-15 minutes until golden on the bottom and set.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet briefly before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Prepare the glaze by mixing cream cheese and lemon juice, then add powdered sugar until smooth.
  10. Spread the glaze over cooled cookies and let it set.
