Ingredients

Toasted Shell

  • 4-6 pieces flour or corn tortillas (8-inch)
  • as needed oil for frying or baking tortillas

Tostada Toppings

  • 2-3 cups shredded chicken
  • 2 cups refried beans
  • 1-1½ cups shredded Jack cheese or Monterey Jack
  • 1½-2 cups iceberg lettuce, thinly sliced
  • 1 large or 2 medium avocados, diced or guacamole
  • 2-3 pieces Roma tomatoes, diced

Optional Toppings

  • ½ cup ranch dressing
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1-2 pieces green onions, diced
  • as needed tablespoons cilantro, chopped
  • as needed pieces lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  2. Lightly spray both sides of the tortillas with cooking spray and season with salt.
  3. Bake tortillas for 3 minutes, flip, and bake for an additional 2-3 minutes until crispy.
  4. For fried tostadas, heat oil in a deep pan and fry tortillas until crispy and slightly browned.
  5. Ensure refried beans and chicken are warm before assembling.
  6. Layer the tostadas with refried beans or shredded chicken, then add the remaining toppings.
  7. Serve immediately.
