Instructions
- Crush the candy cane into fine crumbs using a zip-top bag and a rolling pin or meat mallet.
- In a small pot, combine cocoa powder, sugar, and water, and heat over medium heat until a smooth chocolate syrup forms.
- Whisk in the milk and add the crushed candy cane pieces, heating until the milk is steaming and the candy cane has dissolved.
- Pour the hot coffee into an 8-ounce mug and add the milk mixture and heavy cream if desired.
- Taste and add more sugar if needed, then top with whipped cream and serve.
