Ingredients

The sauce

  • 1 cup sour cream or plain whole-milk Greek yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp. sriracha
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. water

Tacos and assembly

  • ¼ small head cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. fresh lime juice
  • 3 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 3 tsp. kosher salt, divided
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cumin
  • 1 Tbsp. paprika
  • ½ tsp. cayenne pepper
  • lb. skinless, boneless cod or halibut fillets
  • small corn tortillas
  • thinly sliced red onion
  • thinly sliced jalapeño
  • to taste cilantro leaves with tender stems
  • for serving lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the sour cream, sriracha, lime juice, salt, sugar, and water in a bowl and chill.
  2. Combine the sliced cabbage, lime juice, olive oil, and salt in a bowl to make the slaw.
  3. Mix the cumin, paprika, cayenne, and remaining salt in a bowl for the spice mix.
  4. Coat the fish fillets with the spice mix and drizzle with olive oil, rubbing it in.
  5. Cook the fish in a skillet until golden and opaque, about 12 minutes.
  6. Assemble the tacos by placing fish on warm tortillas, topping with slaw, onion, jalapeño, and cilantro, and serve with lime wedges.
