Ingredients

The crust

  • 1 ½ cups finely crushed Oreos (cookies only)
  • cup butter (melted)

The filling

  • 8 ounces cream cheese (at room temperature)
  • ½ cup sugar (divided)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs (separated and at room temperature)
  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips (melted)
  • 1 cup frozen whipped topping (thawed, plus more for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F.
  2. Combine the crushed Oreos and melted butter in a bowl.
  3. Press the mixture into a 9-inch pie plate and bake for 10 minutes; allow to cool completely.
  4. In a stand mixer, blend the cream cheese, ¼ cup sugar, and vanilla for 2 minutes.
  5. Add the egg yolks to the cream cheese mixture and beat until smooth.
  6. Mix in the melted chocolate.
  7. In another bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy, then gradually add the remaining sugar and beat to stiff peaks.
  8. Gently fold the egg whites and whipped topping into the chocolate cream cheese mixture.
  9. Pour the filling into the cooled crust and smooth into an even layer.
  10. Cover and freeze for at least 4 hours.
  11. Top with additional whipped topping if desired.
