Ingredients

The base

  • 2⅔ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter, at room temperature
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • cups cinnamon chips

The topping

  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9 x 13 inch pan.
  2. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, then set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together the butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Stir in the flour mixture until well combined, then fold in the cinnamon chips.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared pan.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the white sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle it over the top of the batter.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes or until the surface springs back when gently pressed.
  8. Cool slightly, then cut into bars while still warm.
