Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose or bread flour
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 1 cup sourdough starter (fed or discard)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add the warm water and sourdough starter, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise until doubled, about 1 to 1 ½ hours.
  4. Preheat the oven to 425°F and grease a 9-inch pie plate or loaf pan.
  5. Scrape the dough into the prepared pan, shaping it roughly if possible.
  6. Let the dough rest uncovered for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 375°F and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes until golden.
  8. Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing.
