Shrimp and Broccoli

Ingredients

The stir fry

  • ½ lb broccoli florets
  • ½ lb headless shrimp, shelled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

The sauce

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • 3 dashes ground white pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine all sauce ingredients in a bowl, whisk well, and set aside.
  2. Wash and rinse the broccoli, then boil for 1 minute and transfer to ice-cold water for 5 minutes before draining.
  3. Rinse and pat the shrimp dry. Heat oil in a wok or skillet over high heat, add garlic and stir-fry until aromatic.
  4. Add shrimp and stir until cooked through and pink.
  5. Turn heat to medium-low, add broccoli and sauce, stirring for 1 minute until the sauce thickens.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish and serve immediately.
