Ingredients

The chicken

  • 1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts

The seasoning

  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper or seasoning of choice

The cooking oil

  • 1-2 Tbsp. cooking oil or fat of choice

The liquid

  • 6 oz. broth or water

Optional herbs

  • to taste fresh or dried herbs

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken dry with a paper towel and pound to an even thickness if necessary.
  2. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper or your preferred seasonings.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add your cooking oil once hot.
  4. Place the chicken breasts in the skillet and cook undisturbed for 4-5 minutes.
  5. Flip the chicken and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  6. Add broth or water to the skillet along with any herbs, and bring to a simmer.
  7. Cover the skillet and reduce heat to medium-low, cooking for 8-10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  8. Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
