Ingredients

The scallops

  • 1ΒΌ pounds sea scallops

The sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh herbs
  • lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the scallops dry with a paper towel and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat until smoking.
  3. Add the scallops in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Remove the scallops from the pan and melt the butter.
  5. Add garlic to the pan and cook for 30 seconds, then stir in lemon juice and herbs.
  6. Return the scallops to the pan and spoon the sauce over them.
  7. Garnish with herbs and lemon wedges, then serve immediately.
