Ingredients

The cookie dough

  • 1 cup butter
  • cups white sugar
  • 2 units eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

The mix-ins

  • 1 11 oz bag Kraft caramel bits
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • to taste coarse sea salt

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2. In a large bowl, beat together the butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  3. 3. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt, then stir into the butter mixture until well blended.
  4. 4. Mix in the caramel bits and chocolate chips.
  5. 5. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets and flatten slightly.
  6. 6. Sprinkle each cookie with a pinch of sea salt.
  7. 7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until set, then cool slightly on the sheets before transferring to wire racks.
