Ingredients

The dough

  • 2 and 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

The filling

  • 15 Rolo candies

For sprinkling

  • coarse sea salt or flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Whisk the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the melted butter with the sugars, then add the egg and vanilla.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and mix until a thick dough forms, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  4. Chill the dough for at least 3 hours or overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven and prepare baking sheets.
  6. Roll the dough into balls, place a Rolo inside each, and cover with more dough.
  7. Sprinkle with sea salt and bake for 12-13 minutes.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
