Ingredients

  • 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 12 tablespoons butter (browned and cooled)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • tablespoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • cups caramel chips
  • ½-¾ cups chopped pecans (toasted)
  • to taste sea salt

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter and let it cool.
  2. Toast the pecans in a dry skillet until browned.
  3. Preheat the oven to 325°F and adjust the racks.
  4. Mix flour, salt, and baking soda in a bowl and set aside.
  5. Blend the brown butter and sugars until combined.
  6. Add the egg, egg yolk, milk, and vanilla to the mixture.
  7. Incorporate the dry ingredients into the dough.
  8. Fold in the caramel chips and toasted pecans.
  9. Scoop the dough onto a baking sheet and bake for 10-13 minutes.
  10. Sprinkle with sea salt immediately after baking and cool on the sheets.
