Instructions
- Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in a large pot and cook the beef and sausage until browned.
- Drain the meat and pulse in a food processor until finely ground.
- In the same pot, heat the remaining olive oil, sauté the onion until golden, then add garlic.
- Stir in tomato puree, paste, sugar, herbs, and the cooked meat, then simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions and prepare the cheese mixtures.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Assemble the lasagna in a baking dish, layering sauce, noodles, and cheese mixtures.
- Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Serve warm, garnished with additional Romano cheese and fresh herbs if desired.
