Ingredients

The wraps

  • 1 head butterhead lettuce
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 slices ginger
  • 5 oz fried tofu
  • 3 pieces fresh shiitake mushrooms
  • 4 oz jicama
  • ½ red pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • to taste pepper
  • toasted sesame seeds
  • cilantro

Dipping Sauce

  • cup vegetarian hoisin sauce
  • ½-1 teaspoon sambal oelek chili paste
  • 1-2 teaspoons water

Seasoning Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon vegetarian mushroom oyster sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon mushroom seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon sambal oelek chili paste (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dipping sauce by mixing its ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. In another bowl, combine the seasoning sauce ingredients and set aside.
  3. Wash and dry the butterhead lettuce leaves, then set aside.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and add ginger, stir-frying for half a minute.
  5. Add the diced tofu, shiitake mushrooms, jicama, and salt, stir-frying until golden brown for about 5 minutes.
  6. Stir in the red peppers and the seasoning sauce mix, cooking for another minute.
  7. Transfer the filling to a serving bowl.
  8. Assemble the wraps by spooning the filling onto each lettuce leaf, adding a teaspoon of dipping sauce, and garnishing with cilantro and fried vermicelli if desired.
