Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 teaspoons chai spice
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 cups shredded Honeycrisp apple
  • ½ cup 2% Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup plain almond milk
  • 4 large eggs

Frosting

  • 8 oz fat-free cream cheese
  • 1 cup 2% plain Greek yogurt
  • cup maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF and line a 9×13-inch cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl and set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Add applesauce, shredded apple, Greek yogurt, and almond milk to the wet mixture and mix well.
  5. Whisk the eggs in a separate bowl and then add to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  6. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients and stir until just mixed.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-33 minutes.
  8. Let the cake cool completely before frosting with the cream cheese frosting.
