Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the oil, granulated sugar, brown sugar, applesauce, eggs, vanilla extract, and orange juice.
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and fold in the chopped apples.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 45–50 minutes, tenting with foil if necessary.
- Let the cake cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Optionally, top with confectioners' sugar or prepare the brown sugar glaze by melting butter, brown sugar, heavy cream, and salt, then whisk in confectioners' sugar.
- Serve the cake warm or at room temperature.
