Ingredients

The blondies

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice
  • ½ teaspoon salt

The filling

  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Optional

  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare a baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, sugars, and melted butter.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla, and mix until combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, pumpkin spice, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  6. Spread half of the blondie batter into the prepared dish.
  7. Layer the caramel sauce and chocolate chips over the batter.
  8. Spread the remaining batter on top of the filling.
  9. Bake until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let cool before cutting into squares.
