Ingredients

The blondie base

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

The caramel

  • as needed pieces baking caramel, cut into tiny balls

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and spray an 8x8 pan with cooking spray.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, stir together the melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla to the butter mixture and stir until smooth.
  5. Combine the flour mixture with the wet ingredients and stir until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and tuck the caramel balls into the batter.
  7. Bake for 23-25 minutes until set, then let cool before cutting and serving.
