Ingredients

The batter

  • 2 1/8 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • 1 ½ cups packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract

The chocolate chips

  • 1 ¼ cups mini semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 10 by 15-inch jelly roll pan by buttering and lining it with parchment.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking soda.
  3. In a stand mixer, cream the melted butter and brown sugar together until blended.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add the vanilla.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined, then fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips.
  6. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top.
  7. Bake for about 17 to 21 minutes, until set but slightly under-baked in the center.
  8. Let cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
