Instructions
- Clean and preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Whisk together olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, and cayenne in a bowl.
- Pat the tri tip dry and rub the seasoning mixture all over it. Let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Sear the tri tip on direct heat for 5 minutes on each side.
- Move the tri tip to indirect heat and cook for 30-40 minutes until it reaches the desired internal temperature.
- Remove from the grill and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing against the grain.
