Ingredients

The meat

  • 2.5 lb Tri tip roast

The seasoning

  • 3 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Sea salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • ΒΌ tsp Cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Clean and preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Whisk together olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, and cayenne in a bowl.
  3. Pat the tri tip dry and rub the seasoning mixture all over it. Let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  4. Sear the tri tip on direct heat for 5 minutes on each side.
  5. Move the tri tip to indirect heat and cook for 30-40 minutes until it reaches the desired internal temperature.
  6. Remove from the grill and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing against the grain.
