Ingredients

The cookie dough

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 ounces full-fat brick cream cheese
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (for rolling, optional)

The frosting

  • 4 ounces full-fat brick cream cheese
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • to taste sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  2. In a bowl, beat butter and cream cheese until smooth, then add sugar and beat until fluffy.
  3. Mix in the egg, vanilla, and almond extract.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until combined; chill the dough for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare baking sheets.
  6. Scoop and roll dough into balls, then roll in sugar before placing on baking sheets.
  7. Flatten the dough balls slightly and bake for 13-15 minutes until lightly browned.
  8. Cool cookies on a rack before frosting.
  9. To make frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until creamy, then add sugar and vanilla.
  10. Frost cooled cookies and decorate with sprinkles.
